Classes

At The South Sutton Ballet School, we follow the Royal Academy of Dance Syllabus which allows your child to develop a strong understanding in classical ballet technique.   It also introduces your child to national dance styles such as Russian, Polish and Hungarian, as seen on stage in Swan Lake and Sleeping Beauty. These classes begin at age five years with Pre-Primary Ballet and continue up to Grade 8 Ballet.  For those that wish to pursue ballet/dance as a career or would like to push their technique further we also offer vocational ballet classes.  For more information on the RAD please visit their website, www.rad.org.uk

For children aged two and a half to four-years-old we start to build a foundation in classical ballet technique through our creative adventures. Each week your child will be taken on a magical journey, visiting well-loved characters from storybooks and film, and hopping, skipping and galloping all the way there.

Ballet is a very physical art form and is a fantastic way of developing flexibility, co-ordination, balance and poise. Rhythm, musicality and development in expressive, creative and artistic qualities are also nurtured in the ballet class.   As ballet is a physical art form, the teacher will need to occasionally use “hands on” correction in order to make sure that the student is performing steps correctly and safely.

We will also be introducing Progressing Ballet Technique to our curriculum. This is a strength and conditioning syllabus specifically based on the techniques of ballet and will really aid the dance student in their ballet classes.  It also further enhances how to move in a safe way especially as the student progresses to do more advanced levels of ballet study.

All of our teachers are trained to the highest standard, complete regular Continued Professional Development, are DBS checked as well as first aid trained and have your child’s health and safety in mind at all times.   The school also holds public liability insurance.
